Week 15 Top 30

Writer's picture: New England Ski UpdateNew England Ski Update

February Break saw ski areas operate like it was the weekend the entire week and there was very little snowfall across the region.

1.        Jay Peak (=)

2.        Killington (=)

3.        Saddleback (=)

4.        Mad River Glen (=)

5.        Sugarloaf (+1)

At this point, there is not much that is going to stop Jay Peak from staying at the top while Killington, Saddleback, and Mad River Glen continue to cruise through the year. Sugarloaf continues to have a tremendous February as they hop Stowe as Stowe lost the Toll House trails on Sunday.

6.        Stowe (-1)

7.        Sunday River (+1)

8.        Smugglers Notch (-1)

9.        Waterville Valley (+3)

10.   Okemo (=)

Stowe drops one spot in the rankings as Sunday River hops Smuggler’s Notch this week as Maine has been the place to be this past week. Waterville Valley is the top mountain in New Hampshire at the moment while Okemo got Wardance open.

11.   Loon (+2)

12.   Bolton Valley (+7)

13.   Bretton Woods (-4)

14.   Cannon (+2)

15.   Sugarbush (-4)

Loon jumps up in the rankings as they are 99.9% open while Bolton Valley surges up to 12 as they have premiere terrain while avoiding the large crowds. Bretton Woods drops in the rankings as other mountains offer a little more challenge. Cannon hops over Sugarbush as they don’t get the crowds and still offer terrific terrain.

16.   Black Mountain NH (-2)

17.   Magic Mountain (=)

18.   Pico (-3)

19.   Sunapee (+2)

20.   Stratton (-2)

Black Mountain and Magic Mountain are on the same level right now but the edge goes to Black Mountain still as the atmosphere has been phenomenal over the last week. Sunapee hops Stratton as they are just a better product at a much more affordable price point and have better views off the summit.

21.   Wildcat (+1)

22.   Pleasant Mountain (+1)

23.   Mount Snow (-3)

24.   Gunstock (NR)

25.   Bromley (-1)

Mount Snow slips a little bit in the rankings due to wind holds affecting terrain early in the week while Pleasant Mountain and Wildcat offer some of the best views in the region. Gunstock surges up now that the Panorama Quad has been fixed and the summit is back open.

26.   Berkshire East (-1)

27.   Cranmore (-1)

28.   Ragged (-1)

29.   Burke (=)

30.   Mount Abram (=)

Attitash gets dropped here as not having the Flying Bear Quad severely limits operations on the Bear Peak side.
