Writer's picture: New England Ski UpdateNew England Ski Update

Another weekend, another snowstorm. This week saw northern New England get hit by a massive snowstorm while the rain/snow line allowed for parts of southern New England to receive some snow too.

1.        Jay Peak (+4)

2.        Killington (=)

3.        Saddleback (-2)

4.        Mad River Glen (-1)

5.        Stowe (-1)

Jay Peak hops up to the top spot after passing the 300-inch mark for snowfall on the season while Killington, Saddleback, and Mad River Glen continue to have phenomenal seasons which saw them all stay 100% open. Stowe has yet to hit that mark with Main Street Race being the only closed trail but it is still a top option if you’re in northern Vermont.

6.        Sugarloaf (+5)

7.        Smuggler’s Notch (+1)

8.        Sunday River (-2)

9.        Bretton Woods (-2)

10.   Okemo (=)

Sugarloaf hops Sunday River even as they had similar snowfall numbers the past few days and have opened more trails in the Snowfields area this week. Smuggler’s Notch hops up one after having a week being 100% open while Bretton Woods drops down as other mountains offer more of a variety of terrain. Okemo stands pat at 10 after another week being 100% open.

11.   Sugarbush (+3)

12.   Waterville Valley (-3)

13.   Loon (-1)

14.   Black Mountain NH (+1)

15.   Pico (-2)

Sugarbush received more snow than all the New Hampshire mountains which pushes them up to 11th while Waterville Valley stays ahead of Loon. Black Mountain battled the wind today and is doing everything they can to make this their best season in quite sometime as they gave snowcat rides to the summit while on wind hold.

16.   Cannon (+1)

17.   Magic Mountain (-1)

18.   Stratton (=)

19.   Bolton Valley (=)

20.   Mount Snow (+5)

Cannon hops Magic Mountain this week in a tough call as DJ’s Tramline and Kinsman Glade being open set them apart. Stratton and Bolton Valley remain idle with all of their terrain open. Mount Snow jumps up as they received eight inches of snow in the last 48 hours and got nearly all of their terrain open before wind hold took over today.

21.   Sunapee (-1)

22.   Wildcat (=)

23.   Pleasant Mountain (-2)

24.   Bromley (=)

25.   Berkshire East (NR)

Sunapee stays ahead of Wildcat as Wildcat is still down two lifts and is very susceptible to the wind right now. Pleasant Mountain stays ahead of Bromley due to the tremendous views and getting some glades on Sunnyside open. Berkshire East rejoins the rankings as the top option in southern New England.

26.   Cranmore (=)

27.   Ragged (NR)

28.   Attitash (NR)

29.   Burke (-1)

30.   Mount Abram (-3)

Ragged and Attitash rejoin the rankings as both are nearly 100% open although Attitash is still missing the Flying Bear Quad.
