One more storm has put some Southern New England mountains in the rankings and with March right around the corner, this will be our final Top 30 of the season before our annual Ski Area Madness tournament. For those who are new or forgot how these rankings work, think of it like the NCAA Top 25. Mountains move up the list based on snowfall, opening terrain, how well they hold onto terrain after major weather events and overall reputation among other factors. They can move down after closing terrain, other mountains getting more snow, and major lift malfunctions among other factors.

1.       Sugarloaf (+1)

2.       Jay Peak (-1)

3.       Killington (+1)

4.       Cannon (+1)

5.       Mad River Glen (+3)

Sugarloaf has opened the backside snowfields for the first time since 2023 pushing them into the top spot while Jay continues to have great conditions. Killington and Cannon move up a spot as they continue to have solid winters while Mad River Glen jumps into the fifth spot and they just closed on the purchase of the surrounding land.

6.       Smugglers Notch (=)

7.       Saddleback (-4)

8.       Stowe (=)

9.       Sugarbush (=)

10.  Wildcat (=)

Smuggler’s Notch sticks at six as they continue to have a stellar season while Saddleback drops a little as other mountains have better coverage across their terrain. Stowe, Sugarbush, and Wildcat all had normal weeks and remain in their original spots.

11.  Bretton Woods (=)

12.  Sunday River (+1)

13.  Loon (+1)

14.  Bolton Valley (-2)

15.  Waterville Valley (+1)

Bretton Woods stays ahead of Sunday River as they are 100% open and Sunday River has a few trails that keep opening and closing. Loon is also 100% open while Bolton slides two spots as Wilderness Peak closes for periods of times midweek. Waterville jumps up a spot after another great week.

16.  Gunstock (+3)

17.  Bromley (+7)

18.  Magic Mountain (-3)

19.  Pico (-2)

20.  Okemo (-2)

Gunstock and Bromley jump up in the rankings after their recent snowfall while Magic Mountain slides a little but they are 100% open. Pico and Okemo each had good weeks but drop two spots after the storm went more south.

21.  Mount Snow (-1)

22.  Stratton (-1)

23.  Black Mountain NH (-1)

24.  Attitash (-1)

25.  Pleasant Mountain (+2)

Mount Snow and Stratton each had solid weeks but with Stratton’s gondola being down they are not moving up in the rankings anytime soon. Black Mountain and Attitash continue to have similar good seasons and Pleasant Mountain moves up in the ranking after opening Poachers Paradise for a little bit last week.

26.  Ragged (-1)

27.  Sunapee (-1)

28.  Berkshire East (+2)

29.  Yawgoo Valley (NR)

30.  Blue Hills (NR)

Ragged stays ahead of Sunapee as they offer better tree skiing while Berkshire East continues to have a good month. Yawgoo and Blue Hills join the rankings after receiving a combined 56 inches of snow over the last five days.
