Week 14 Top 30
- New England Ski Update

- 2 min read
Another quiet week for New England saw very little changes in terrain across the region so there are no big rises or drops in this week’s rankings. For those who are new or forgot how these rankings work, think of it like the NCAA Top 25. Mountains move up the list based on snowfall, opening terrain, how well they hold onto terrain after major weather events and overall reputation among other factors. They can move down after closing terrain, other mountains getting more snow, and major lift malfunctions among other factors.
1. Jay Peak (+1)
2. Sugarloaf (-1)
3. Saddleback (+4)
4. Killington (-1)
5. Cannon (-1)
Jay Peak has the most snow in the east and they are now back in the number one spot as Sugarloaf goes down to the second spot. The snow in Northern Maine is great right now as Saddleback jumps into the three spot as Killington and Cannon stay in the same order.
6. Smugglers Notch (=)
7. Stowe (+1)
8. Mad River Glen (-3)
9. Sugarbush (=)
10. Wildcat (+3)
Smuggler’s Notch stays ahead of Stowe as there are little to no crowds at Smuggs especially for midweek skiers and riders. Mad River Glen drops as the snow in Vermont gets better the further north you get. Wildcat hops back into the top ten after having most of their terrain open and some of the best views in the region.
11. Bretton Woods (=)
12. Bolton Valley (=)
13. Sunday River (-3)
14. Loon (+1)
15. Magic Mountain (+1)
Bretton Woods and Bolton Valley stay in their spots while Sunday River drops a little bit as other mountains received more snow. Loon and Magic Mountain move up a spot in the rankings as the slight problem with the Tecumseh lift at Waterville Valley caused it to close.
16. Waterville Valley (-2)
17. Pico (+1)
18. Okemo (-1)
19. Gunstock (=)
20. Mount Snow (=)
Waterville slips after the lift issue as Pico hops Okemo after remaining 100% open as Okemo closed a few trails midweek. Gunstock and Mount Snow stand pat.
21. Stratton (+1)
22. Black Mountain NH (+2)
23. Attitash (+2)
24. Bromley (-1)
25. Ragged (-4)
Stratton jumps behind Mount Snow in the rankings while Black Mountain and Attitash each saw good weeks to move up two spots. Bromley slips a little and Ragged drops as other mountains just had better weeks.
26. Mount Sunapee (+1)
27. Pleasant Mountain (-1)
28. Burke (=)
29. Mt Abram (NR)
30. Berkshire East (NR)
Sunapee jumps Pleasant Mountain as they reached 100% open. Mt Abram joins the rankings as they remain 100% open while Berkshire East got most of their terrain open including a lot of glades which makes it one of the better mountains in Southern New England.
Biggest Jump: Saddleback (7 to 3)
Biggest Drop: Ragged (21 to 25)
