Can a week really get more New England than this past week? Snow, ice, and recovery from the rain event made it a very interesting week in the region as the weather was very different from the start of the season.


1.       Killington (+3)

2.       Stowe (=)

3.       Jay Peak (+2)

4.       Sugarbush (-1)

5.       Bretton Woods (+2)

Killington currently has over 100 trails open with terrain all the way from Ramshed to Bear Mountain while also recently opening Outer Limits. Stowe holds the second spot after retaining most of their terrain while the front four was periodically open. Jay Peak jumps up to three after it regained almost all of its terrain except the steeps off the summit and trails around Ullr’s. Sugarbush drops one but still has over 100 trails open while Bretton Woods jumps into the top five after opening roughly 20 glades and the Stickney area.

9.       Sunday River (+1)

10.  Bolton Valley (-1)

Mad River Glen lost a lot of trails during the freeze but they have recovered nicely from is with over 40 open right now while Sugarloaf expanded terrain into the Whiffletree and King Pine areas. Loon stays at eight after opening Basin Street area trails while Sunday River hops Bolton as they held on to snow better.

13.  Waterville Valley (-3)

14.  Smugglers Notch (-8)

Okemo added some more terrain on South Face area while also getting Rolling Thunder and White Lightning open on the Jackson Gore side. Pico went from about 10 trails open to over 40 this week as they leap up in the rankings. Waterville Valley moves up after reaching the big 5-0 on their trail count and not really losing any during the icing period. Smugglers Notch drops after they were heavily affected by ice which only saw a day or two with Madonna open while Cannon stays at 15 after getting all summit trails open.


16.  Pleasant Mountain (+6)

17.  Saddleback (-4)

18.  Mount Snow (+1)

19.  Gunstock (-2)

20.  Stratton (-4)

Pleasant Mountain didn’t lose any terrain this week while they continuously added trails in the Sunnyside area while Saddleback saw its challenging terrain open and close a lot this week but as of today Tight Line was open. Mount Snow jumps ahead of Gunstock and Stratton as they added some challenging trails on the North Face side, extra runs in Carinthia, and some more Sunbrook trails while Gunstock and Stratton also added a few trails.

23.  Black Mountain NH (NR)

24.  Sunapee (-3)

25.  Burke (NR)

Attitash drops a spot but saw Spillway and Cathedral open to get more terrain off the Flying Yankee while Bromley saw some of their steeps open with the Pabst trails. Black Mountain re enters the list after fixing their lift issues while Sunapee held strong with 32 trails this week. Burke enters the rankings after a late week revival which saw 20 trails open over the past few days.


26.  Jiminy Peak (-3)

27.  Cranmore (NR)

28.  Ragged (-1)

29.  Magic Mountain (-5)

30.  Berkshire East (NR)

Jiminy opened up one of the steepest trails at the mountain in Jericho as Cranmore has been getting some terrain on the western side open with Kandahar and Skimeister. Ragged has opened Flying Yankee to get another way down off Spear Mountain while Magic is open from the summit with Magic Carpet as the way down. Berkshire East jumps back into the rankings after adding Roundabout and Mohawk.

New To Rankings: Berkshire East, Black Mountain NH, Burke, Cranmore

Dropped From Rankings: Pats Peak, Wildcat, Mount Abram, Mohawk
