Week 8 Top 30

With Monday’s rain, the region has rebounded nicely to the point where its like it almost didn’t happen.

1.        Sunday River (+7)

At the start of the week Sunday River had the most open terrain in New England while other mountains closed terrain for the rain and have added some terrain throughout the week.

2.        Mad River Glen (=)

Having nearly all of their trails open excluding the Practice Slope Chair trails, Mad River Glen continues to be one of the best in Vermont.

3.        Killington (=)

Killington is one of the best mountains in the region and will continue to be in the top ten for the foreseeable future.

4.        Jay Peak (-3)

Jay Peak had to drop down to 23 trails due to wind and rain but have rebounded nicely.

5.        Saddleback (+7)

The Saddleback atmosphere is one of the best in New England and they have opened a lot of terrain including glades off the Kennabago Quad this week.

6.        Stowe (=)

One of the premiere destinations in New England, Stowe opened Goat, Starr, Lookout, and Liftline for the end of vacation week and it did not disappoint.

7.        Loon (+3)

The top option in New Hampshire, Loon offers a great selection of terrain across multiple peaks including a terrain park.

8.        Pico (-1)

If you know, you know.

9.        Okemo (=)

The South Face has continued to see trails open and almost Solitude is open now!

10.   Waterville Valley (-5)

When Waterville opens terrain, they keep it open and they don’t loose much of it in the rain.

11.   Sugarloaf (+4)

Sugarloaf has rebounded from the wind and rain in northern Maine to get back up to over 50 trails open at the end of the week.

12.   Sugarbush (-8)

Sugarbush has seen almost all of its terrain open so far but they have been plagued by chairlift issues so far this season.

13.   Mount Snow (+1)

Mount Snow moves up a little as Carintha and North Face continue to open more and more terrain.

14.   Cannon (+2)

With the Front 5 getting Zoomer open and the Tram running, Cannon is one of the best atmospheres in New England.

15.   Stratton (-4)

A more corporate mountain, Stratton provides great options for beginners and experts alike.

16.   Bretton Woods (+2)

If you like skiing groomers, Bretton Woods is for you!

17.   Bolton Valley (+12)

Bolton Valley has rebounded from last week nicely and has most of their terrain including Cobrass open.

18.   Attitash (+1)

Attitash may be the top option in the Mount Washington Valley with multiple ways down off both peaks.

19.   Smuggler’s Notch (NR)

Back in the rankings, Smuggler’s Notch has reopened most of Sterling Mountain along with the lower lift on Madonna.

20.   Gunstock (-7)

Gunstock falls at no fault of their own but other mountains have just rebounded so well this week.

21.   Pleasant Mountain (-1)

Pleasant Mountain offers great night skiing and has been really great with snowmaking so far this year.

22.   Berkshire East (-1)

Berkshire East continues to open terrain and has almost all trails down the front of the mountain.

23.   Sunapee (-1)

Great views from the summit at Sunapee and they opened Lynx, Upper Blastoff, and more trails on South Peak.

24.   Pats Peak (=)

Pats Peak has just reached 100% open on the season being the 6th member of the 100% Open Clun this season.

25.   Bromley (-2)

Bromley drops a little but has reopened most of the terrain that they lost over the last few days.

26.   Black Mountain NH (=)

The Black Mountain revival is alive and well as they would usually be closed with the rain but they stayed open through the week.

27.   Magic Mountain (-2)

Most of the terrain off the left side is open and Magic will be back in action on Thursday!

28.   Catamount (-1)

Catamount is another great option in Massachusetts and is barely ahead of Jiminy Peak and Wachusett for the state.

29.   Cranmore (NR)

Cranmore has half their trails open and will look to continue to build off what they have.

30.   Mohawk (NR)

Mohawk makes its season debut on the Top 30 as the top option in Connecticut right now.

 

Biggest Jump: Bolton Valley (29 to 17)

Biggest Drop: Burke (17 to NR)

New To Rankings: Smuggler’s Notch, Cranmore, Mohawk

Dropped From Rankings: Wildcat, Burke, Jiminy Peak
