After an up and down kind of weekend due to the r**n, we have a new Top 30! For those who are new or forgot how these rankings work, think of it like the NCAA Top 25. Mountains move up the list based on snowfall, opening terrain, how well they hold onto terrain after major weather events and overall reputation among other factors. They can move down after closing terrain, other mountains getting more snow, and major lift malfunctions among other factors.

1.       Jay Peak (=)

2.       Sugarbush (+7)

3.       Killington (-1)

4.       Mad River Glen (+3)

5.       Stowe (+1)

With still over 70 trails open, all of whom are major, Jay Peak takes the top spot after holding on to a ton of terrain after the wet spell. Sugarbush has kept most of their terrain aside from Sleeper and opened up almost all of Mount Ellen. Killington drops a spot after a net loss of about 20 trails but the skiing is still good meanwhile Mad River Glen rebounded well before the typical Monday closures for them. Stowe lost a few intermediate/expert trails but opened up Upper Main Street and Main Street Headwall to get the Spruce Peak summit open.

6.       Waterville Valley (+4)

7.       Loon (+5)

8.       Sunday River (-4)

9.       Sugarloaf (-1)

10.  Okemo (+6)

Waterville and Loon combined to lose 5 trails over the r**n event and are very close in terms of what they are offering. The upper hand goes to Waterville as they are offering a greater percentage of skiable acres open. Sunday River stays barely ahead of Sugarloaf after adding the Little Whitecap Quad. Okemo held onto basically all of their terrain and got a few more trails between the Solitude area and Jackson Gore.

11.  Bretton Woods (-8)

12.  Cannon (+2)

13.  Bolton Valley (+2)

14.  Smugglers Notch (-3)

15.  Saddleback (-2)

Bretton Woods drops after Vermont got most of the snow that was mixed with rain but they still have most of Rosebrook open along with two glades. Cannon just opened the Zoomer area with Gary’s and Rocket while Bolton Valley lost some trails in the rain but still have a good collection of terrain off Wilderness and Vista. Smugglers Notch could not reopen Madonna this weekend meanwhile Saddleback lost a lot of expert terrain while holding onto most intermediate and beginner trails.

16.  Mount Snow (+7)

17.  Gunstock (+1)

18.  Stratton (-1)

19.  Bromley (=)

20.  Black Mountain NH (+6)

Mount Snow has opened up more in the terrain park with Nitro and Lower Fools Gold while Gunstock lost no trails and added a few more like Flintlock and Redhat. Stratton drops a spot as they lost a top of terrain as they were not able to get the Sun Bowl open after it had previously opened. Bromley stays strong with 20 trails while Black Mountain jumps up after losing nothing and holding on strong to its key trails.

21.  Sunapee (=)

22.  Pleasant Mountain (-2)

23.  Cranmore (+2)

24.  Jiminy Peak (+4)

25.  Pico (-20)

Sunapee reopened all of their trails on the main mountain while getting Guster and Eggbeater open for the weekend while Pleasant added Lower Appalachian to their trail count. Cranmore opened Ledges off the front of the mountain while Jiminy Peak has added more terrain to get up to 24 trails. After opening strong with nearly 100% of the terrain open, the rain wiped out almost everything to bring them to 11 trails.

26.  Ragged (NR)

27.  Pats Peak (NR)

28.  Attitash (-1)

29.  Big Rock (=)

30.  Berkshire East (-6)

Ragged has opened Cardigan off Spear Mountain while Pats Peak stayed strong with 18 trails open. Attitash lost Bear Peak during the r**n event while they were able to add Spillway and trails to the condos before the weekend. Big Rock held onto all of their terrain while Berkshire East continues to offer quality skiing and riding.
