Week two is in the books and we saw eleven more mountains open including two in Massachusetts!
1. Stowe (+7)
2. Sugarbush (+9)
3. Killington (-1)
4. Jay Peak (+2)
5. Sunday River (-2)
It was an opening weekend to remember at Stowe as Friday and Saturday saw over 50 trails open across the Forerunner side of the mountain. Sugarbush comes in second in the early season with 100% of Lincoln Peak being open for opening day and multiple ways down Gadd. Killington remained strong with 27 trails including terrain off the summit and Snowden area. Although hampered by an hour Jet shutdown, Jay Peak still offered decent powder and terrain on their opening weekend. Sunday River saw Cascade open on Locke for the weekend while Jordan opened for the first time this season.
6. Sugarloaf (+1)
7. Okemo (+9)
8. Loon (+7)
9. Cannon (+3)
10. Mount Snow (+10)
Sugarloaf changed their opening day lineup to feature Sluice and Spillway and it did not disappoint! Okemo usually opens with just one way down but getting Sapphire open for opening day just speaks to the early snowfall that Vermont is getting. Loon has opened a lot of terrain at the top of the mountain with some challenge as Upper Walking Boss is open. Cannon was similar offering three different trails off the Cannonball Quad with one top to bottom route. In southern Vermont, Mt Snow had two long routes down along with a hike park on Grommet.
11. Bretton Woods (-9)
12. Bolton Valley (+1)
13. Jiminy Peak (NR)
14. Wachusett (NR)
15. Black Mountain NH (-11)
Bretton Woods added the learning trail, Rosebrook Meadow, to their terrain count while Bolton Valley opened with trails off the Mid Mountain Lift.
