Sugarloaf Expansion and Granite Gorge Reopening

It's been a busy few weeks in New England as Sugarloaf in Maine announced it will be expanding the West Mountain Area and Granite Gorge in New Hampshire has reopened for the first time since 2020.

Sugarloaf's expansion says that first tracks will be made in 2024 and will add a new high speed quad and 12 new trails.

West Mountain is home to a lot of condos so this will provide access to ski in and ski out homes.

The new quad will be called the Bucksaw Express and will have an estimated ride time of 6 minutes and 53 seconds.

The new trails will be Bucksaw, Feller Buncher, Chipper, Hatchet, Whistle Punk, Beaver Trail, Knot Bumper, Gandy Dancer, Cutter, West Mountain Crosscut, Twitcher, and Yarder.

Snowmaking will be installed on these trails.

In New Hampshire, Granite Gorge made its return over MLK Weekend with one trail and the T Bar.

Granite Gorge will look to get more terrain open in the near future.

This is the first time the ski area in Keene has been open since 2020.

Granite Gorge was idle up until this season after the death of Fred Baybutt in August 2020.
