Preseason Mountain Power Rankings

Top 25

1. Killington

After having the longest season in the east last season, Killington takes the top spot in all New England headed into the season.

2. Stowe

Stowe is another northeast ski area that gets some national recognition and offers a ton of terrain.

3. Sugarbush

Sugarbush has two ski areas that each provide their own touch to what makes Sugarbush one of the most dependent ski areas in terms of having trails open.

4. Jay Peak

Jay Peak gets hurt a little by having the coldest chairlift in New England but still gets inside the top five.

5. Sugarloaf

Sugarloaf takes the top spot in Maine and will be expanding more terrain this season.

6. Sunday River

Following their Boyne counterpart, Sunday River is putting in the new Barker 6 this season and will continue to expand Merrill Hill.

7. Wildcat

Wildcat is home to some of the best views in the east while also getting really unlucky with wind delays on the quad.

8. Saddleback

Saddleback has a variety of terrain to offer from learning areas to Tight Line to Casablanca Glades and is one of the best independent mountains in New England.

9. Okemo

Okemo will bounce back from all the flooding that happened over the summer and still be a premier destination in New England.

10. Smuggler’s Notch

Smuggs could arguable be higher on this list, but it still cracks the top 10.

11. Bretton Woods

Bretton Woods has some of the best snow in New England and adds that to the views of Mount Washington as you ski down the mountain.

12. Mad River Glen

Mad River Glen is a historic ski area that has not let up throughout the years and relies heavily on natural snow.

13. Mount Snow

Mount Snow is another destination ski area in Vermont and has a lot to offer from the main mountain to Carintha.

14. Cannon

Cannon is famous for the iconic tram and good all-around skiing as they look to rebound from the trouble, they faced last year with the chairlifts.

15. Loon

Loon has had the longest season in New Hampshire multiple seasons in a row now.

16. Stratton

Stratton is another southern Vermont must go to mountain that consistently has almost all the mountain open during peak season.

17. Bolton Valley

Bolton Valley is an independent mountain that offers a three peaks of skiing.

18. Gunstock

After shutting down last summer, Gunstock had a very good ski season and will probably follow it up again with another good one this year.

19. Waterville Valley

Waterville Valley may be low on this list but there is still so much to explore on this independent mountain.

20. Sunapee

Sunapee offers some stunning views of a lake while also having terrain for people of all levels.

21. Berkshire East

Berkshire East is an underrated western Massachusetts ski area.

22. Attitash

Attitash should have a good season this year after the addition of the summit quad this year and progression quad last year.

23. Wachusett

Wachusett has one of the most iconic TV commercials and has some pretty good skiing too.

24. Pleasant Mountain

Pleasant Mountain gets overlooked a lot, but they consistently have great snow and amazing views of a lake and on a clear day you can see Mount Washington.

25. Jiminy Peak

Jiminy Peak rounds out the list and is a solid option for southern New England skiers.
